Five Things International Students Can ONLY Do in Denver!

If you’ve ever wondered why Denver is a premier place for international students to study, then I’ve got five answers for you!

1- There are Craft Breweries…everywhere!

If you are over 21 years old, you can enjoy some homemade beer at over 20 craft breweries located in the city limits—ranging from Wynkoop Brewing Company, founded by the governor of Colorado, to the up-and-coming popular Denver Beer Co. If those two don’t work for you, then you are sure to find one that fits your personality or satisfies your taste buds!

2- A Professional Sports Enthusiast’s Dream

Denver is home to professional sports teams in just about every sport. They have the highly successful American football team—the Denver Broncos, Major League Baseball’s Colorado Rockies, NBA’s Denver Nuggets, two-time Stanley Cup winners the Colorado Avalanche, and Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids. Additionally, Denver has indoor and outdoor lacrosse teams (the Mammoth and Outlaws, respectively) and a rugby club, the Barbarians. This list is not exhaustive, as there are also highly successful college sports teams as well! No matter what time of year, the sports lover will be happy to be in Denver.

3- Live One Mile Above Sea Level

This is why Denver is called the Mile High City. As it sits at exactly one mile (5,260 feet) above sea level, it is the only major city in the United States to sit at such a height. When you go for a run your lungs may work a little bit harder, but when you return to sea level you’ll feel superhuman!

4- 300 Days of Sun

Denver’s best kept secret. It is sunny almost every day of the year, meaning the weather is actually really great! Predictably, being a mile above sea level means snow will happen in the winter, but the sun usually melts it right away!

5- Mountains

If the sun melting the snow away makes you sad, then just down the road you can find many of the best ski and snowboard resorts in the United States! In the summer, you can hike through the beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park or enjoy a concert at the naturally occurring and picturesque Red Rocks Amphitheater.

Those are just five of the coolest things Denver has to offer, and there are many more!
