Although Colorado is known for its breathtaking Rocky Mountains and other natural outdoor activities, there are many free events you can partake in this summer right in the heart of Denver! These three events are close to the Bridge English Denver School; making them easy to attend!
July 3-5, Cherry Creek North from 2nd to 3rd Avenues
The Cherry Creek Arts Festival is an iconic summer festival. Held outdoors in the Cherry Creek North area every summer, it is a celebration of visual, culinary, and performing arts. You will be able to view award-winning art, eat delicious local food, and even do some art projects yourself. It is an all-day event for three straight days during the 4th of July weekend (America’s Independence Day). Because this is the festival’s 25th anniversary, this is an event you do not want to miss.
6-8 pm Sunday evenings from June 7-August 9, City Park, 17th Ave. and Colorado Blvd
Also happening near by is the City Park Jazz event held at the scenic City Park. Jazz music is a fun American music genre that started in the early 1900’s that has influenced much of the popular music played today. Guests of all ages are invited to come listen and dance to free Jazz music played by local bands and musicians. As it is every Sunday evening, you can stop by whichever week fits your schedule or make it part of your routine schedule.
7-10 pm Saturdays evenings from June 6-August 29, Little Man’s Ice Cream, 2620 16th St. Denver, CO 80211
Another weekly free summer attraction, the Little Man’s Ice Cream is hosting a “Swingin Under the Stars Saturday” swing dancing event. Swing Dance is a type of American dance created in the 1920’s in response to the jazz music era. In collaboration with the Swingin’ Denver organization, 9 jazz bands and string quartets will be playing for 13 weeks. They even provide free swing dance lessons at 7 pm for beginners. No partner or experience is required! Also, Little Man’s Ice Cream is a popular ice cream shop in Denver, so come get your swing on and try one of their delicious ice cream or sorbet flavors!
These summer events are fun, cultural, and annual traditions in Denver! They are a great way to meet Denver locals and experience American culture through festivals, music, and dance. So the next time you are looking for something free to do this summer, check out these events!
